Statement by Bill Belcher, Vice President and General manager on the reopening of Zia Park Casino, Hotel & Racetrack

While the amenities our customers have come to know and love may be somewhat limited for the time being, the ability to safely welcome back our team members and guests is our top priority. With this in mind, we have been working closely with the New Mexico Gaming Control Board, state and local leaders, and public health officials to finalize comprehensive reopening protocols and health and safety precautions. Our returning team members will be trained on these procedures and our guests will see reminders about them throughout the property. We are grateful for the overwhelming support, patience, and understanding from our customers through these unprecedented times, and can’t wait to welcome everyone back.

New policies include, but are not limited to, the following:

Social Distancing

  • Limiting capacity on our gaming floor to no more than 75% of our maximum occupancy.
  • The installation of floor decals and signage to remind guests of social distancing guidelines in areas where lines typically form.
  • Slot machines will be configured to meet social distancing requirements.
  • Live music and entertainment will remain suspended.
  • Restaurant offerings will be limited and will adhere to all restaurant state protocols and social distancing.
  • The Hotel will be limited to 100% occupancy.
  • Hotel bookings have resumed. Rooms can be booked by calling 1-888-ZIA-PARK (942-7275) between 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. MST daily.

Health & Safety

  • Team members and vendors who are not fully vaccinated will be required to wear masks. All team members and vendors will undergo a health screening each day, including temperature checks, prior to their shift.
  • Guests who are not fully vaccinated will be required to wear masks while in the facility and all guests must respond to a health screening prior to entry.
  • Slot machines will be thoroughly and regularly cleaned throughout the day.
  • Additional Sanitizer stations have been installed on the casino floor and are readily available throughout the facility.
  • The Hotel will operate under the New Mexico Safe Certified Training Program.

Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m. – 3 a.m.

Every other slot machine will be disabled and there are occupancy restrictions for the casino floor.

Please Note: The VIP entrance is now closed. All guests must use the main entrance to the property.


Our facility is now non-smoking. We have set up designated smoking areas outside of the facility.


Masks are required for all guests who are not vaccinated while in all public areas inside the facility.

The Turf Club: Closed

Café Aroma: Closed

Starting Gate:
Sunday: 9 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Monday – Thursday: 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 a.m.
Limited menu available and capacity restrictions are in place.


All live entertainment is suspended at this time.

Our hotel is open at 100% capacity and is operating under the New Mexico Safe Certified Training Program.

1. What are your hours of operation?
Monday –Thursday: 10 a.m. –1 a.m.
Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m. – 3 a.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m. – 1 a.m.

2. What should I expect to enter the facility?
Masks are required for guests who are not vaccinated. Fully vaccinated guests are not required to wear a mask.

All guests must enter through the main entrance. VIP entrance is closed.

Temperature and health screenings will be administered before entering the casino or hotel.

Contact tracing opportunities will also be provided.

3. Can you still smoke in the casino?
No. Due to the mandate of wearing masks while inside the facility smoking areas are now located outside of the building.

4. Will there still be promotions and offers?
Eligible guests may receive free play offers in the coming weeks. As we transition to contactless communication, make sure we have a valid email address for your mychoice® account. All promotions scheduled during our closure were canceled unless otherwise stated as postponed. We look forward to holding promotions and drawings at future dates which are to be determined.

5. What is contactless communication?
Contactless communication is the safest way for us to inform you of upcoming offers, promotions, and special events. We will be providing a majority of these updates via email. To link your email address to your mychoice account, visit and update your account OR you can visit the Player Services upon your next visit to ensure we have your email address.

6. Will my Free SlotPlay® from before closure be available?
All previous offers have expired, to ensure you receive the latest information, make sure we have your email address. Any previously earned mycash is available and has not expired.

7. Will my mychoice card, mycash, or tier level be expired when I come back?
Your mychoice card and mycash will both be valid. Your tier level has been reset to the level earned in 2019. Though your mychoice card may show as expired you DO NOT need to get a new card printed, it will still work just as it did before the COVID-19 closure.

8. What dining outlets and bars are open?
Starting Gate:
Sunday: 9 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Monday – Thursday: 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 a.m.

9. What about concerts and live entertainment?
All live entertainment at the Starting Gate has been canceled. We look forward to having Karaoke, Trivia nights, Muzic Match and live bands back in the future.

10. How can I stay safe inside the casino?
Social distancing protocols will be enforced inside all areas of the facility. Signage will be displayed to show you where to stand and what is opened and closed. Any area that may have high traffic or touchpoints will be sanitized regularly and the whole facility will be deep cleaned over-night. Mask wearing will be enforced throughout the facility. Guests refusing to wear a mask after being asked will be asked to leave the property.
